BIO FACADES
Walls and bio-facades with micro-algae made up of sliding shutters allows algae to develop easily and quickly to grow. Thanks to the photosynthesis process which cleans the air, microalgae also take on heat; this thermal energy is recovered and used to supply the building. As in the French and Swiss systems, the microalgae at the end of their life are then collected in large fermentation tanks to be transformed into biogas. In addition to the ecological advantages, this system which exploits the microalgae makes it possible to obtain a good energy balance for the building. Without becoming completely self-sufficient, it embeds an energy production unit that limits its needs. In addition, the panels are also used to provide shade in summer, which limits the use of air conditioning and again saves energy bills. In France, such a system was deployed on the facade of a building in Nantes at the end of 2013. The Paris city hall would also like this type of bio-facades to be developed on the occasion of future urban planning projects.

We have succeeded in developing systems in which microalgae are directly implanted in buildings in order to improve their energy efficiency.
